Please Solve The Mystery – What variety is this Red Pansy?

Spring has sprung and my thoughts have turned to pansy’s. I love their smiling faces!
The above photo was taken last year in early spring of this gorgeous red pansy. Beautiful, right? Except for one thing – I do not know the variety name, so therefore do not know where I can get it for this season’s Spring garden.
Can you help me solve the mystery please?
Shawna, these look very much like the Park's Whopper Red I grew one year. They vary in how much yellow they show, but these look just like them. I think they still sell them by seed. Hope this helps!
I would probably say it is one of the 'Matrix' series. A lot of large commercial green houses seem to like that series as well as the 'Colossus'. With the 'face it has I would not say it is Matrix Rose, that variety is clear faced.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the suggestions – beautiful whatever it turns out to be, right?

I loved how you explained the rays of the sun and roping it off plus the bi-degradable pots…I think I can actually do this….I know it was a lot of hard work but having a plan and seeing how the plans develops makes it worth the time an effort. Thank you. Mary
Mary,
I'm assuming you meant for my vegetable garden story. Awesome that you thought it easy to understand – thanks!

I think Heavy Petal is on track with it being a rose vs. a red. Red pansies seem to be more of a scarlet/dingy color. It's definitely not Colossus Red.
I worked for a commercial grower for 6 years and I haven't seen one just like this. You might like the Delta Tapestry though. It has the same tones to it. The Delta Series has some great bright colors and fun mixes in it.
Good luck!
Hi Shawna,
in checking our photo library here at MasterTag it seems to be a dead ringer for 'Contessa Red & Rose Shades' from Goldsmith/Syngenta
THANK YOU! Glad to get a firm idea.
Best,
Shawna
