A New Twist On The Old Terrarium; Enviro-Cakes™ Review and Give-Away
SPECIAL NOTE – this post was originally posted in January but the Enviro-Cakes™ website went down in middle of the contest, so we pulled the contest. THE CONTEST IS BACK with new dates for entering, so please leave a comment and enter below. THANKS for your patience dear readers!

When the Enviro-Cakes™ company recently contacted me and asked if I would do a review and give-away of one of their cool terrarium Enviro-Cakes™, I was pretty darned excited.
Why? I am going nuts people – it’s winter, there is snow on the ground in my neighborhood and I have not seen or touched a garden in months. I have garden-fever and am darned tired of the view out the window. I NEED to build a garden!!!
When the package arrived, it had all the ingredients to whip up a really cool terrarium, but instead of the old-fashioned style terrarium, this is set in a cake display. Totally cute, I can see an Enviro-Cake as a great activity for both adults and children to help break up the winter blahs.
Following the directions for assembling the cake is a snap. First, you layer the bottom with moss, gravel, charcoal, and soil. Next add plants, top moss, decorative rocks, gravel and Spanish moss onto the clear saucer provided. Place the gorgeous plant display on the cake plate, spray with water, and cover.
After one week, the dome of your cake plate should have condensation in the morning hours and clear up in the evening hours and require no watering – by building the cake-like terrarium you create a little mini rain-forest inside the cake plate. I love the idea of bringing a little green indoors and it was really fun to build!!
It would be awesome if you followed BOTH Enviro-Cakes™ and me on our Facebook Fan Pages, but it is NOT a requirement of the contest.

REally nice! The cake stand is not something I would have thought of. Thanks.

Fabulous idea! What a unique use for a cake stand. I have the perfect spot in my kitchen for one! 🙂
Wonderful idea of using a cake stand! Absolutely love it!
Hope I didn't miss the drawing. Only have a minute to enter and let you know that I LOVE this blog and the Terrarium!
Love it!!! Baking and gardening my two favorite things!! How perfect!!!
I have three cake plates with domes that are different heights. I created terrariums in all 3 as the seasons changed last year. They are REALLY fun for Easter decorations!
Looks like I missed your contest but glad I found your review. I will have to check this product out!
My cat is causing me to shift towards terrariums. This is a nice one that could easily be a centerpiece.
Hi!
I’m pulling the Enviro-cakes contest because their website keeps breaking down.
As soon as it is up and working regularly I will start the contest again. My apologies for the inconvenience!

So cool! Saw this on you Facebook page and totally want one now. My 8-year-old gardener will think he's won the lottery if I give him one. Thanks for sharing the terrific idea!
I know just the person I'd love to gift this to. 🙂
I'm not a huge outdoor person myself but I know someone who is very dear to me that is and she'd get a kick out of it.
Very cool contest Shawna!
Where's the salamander?
For a unique and quirky twist on the “cake” theme, you could cut a large slice out of the 'terracake'…
This is such a cool twist on the terrarium idea.
I'd love having this in my house to look at everyday.
Plants + cake! What could be better?
This is a great idea. I may do a short workshop on this someday. Hehehe… of course crediting you for the idea.
What a great idea, looks like something even I could do 🙂
This is so fun! Looking forward to getting one started!

How wonderful – even a person with two left thumbs like me might be able to tackle this! 🙂
Another thing to find space for! But I totally would kick the bread machine off the counter. 🙂
Still love this idea.

What a wonderful idea to bring indoors the beauty of the spring! I remember having a terrarium as a child and enjoyed all I learned and saw grow.
Another great idea. I'd love to have it.
I love terrariums (ever since making one in a fish tank back in grammar school), and I love displaying things on pedestals. This is PERFECT!
And the randomly selected winner of the Enviro-Cake Terrarium IS ::drumroll please::
