2009 “Get It Garden” Challenge – Readers Great Gardens Continued – Beautiful!
Welcome to the 2009 Casual Gardener “Get It Garden” Challenge!! The challenge: create a garden that makes a difference in your life and your community, then share it with The Casual Gardener readers.
Wonderful news for all my readers – the gardens are growing magnificently! Today I am featuring readers’ gardens who are growing fast and furious. Above you see Sue Ames’ front garden – just lovely. Cute little pig laying down!
Deb Brown, the videographer who took the “I SEE BEANS”!” video (it is now world famous), has been growing the most fabulous veggies ever (see right). Her garden has significantly expanded and is looking great. After 70 mph winds, my onions are now all laying on the ground – yours look terrific Deb!
As further inspiration to all of you gardeners out there – you can grow lettuce all summer long if you keep the area moist. Why not grow it mixed in with your flower beds like Eileen Landau does? See the photo of her garden on the left as awesome inspiration. Lettuce can be quite beautiful, is very nutritious, and has a quick grow rate. Throw it in the flowerbeds and enjoy!
Thanks for all the great photos – keep sending them to me! See ya in the garden!!
Remember, as you follow along and build your gardens, please send photos and details to me, Shawna Coronado, and I will post your successes – and your failures – so we can all learn how to make a difference with a garden. Please send anything you can – what do you do with all the vegetables you harvest for instance? Will you sell them for additional family income? Will you give them away to local food banks? My readers want to know ALL the details.
Let’s build a garden together! Please join the 2009 Casual Gardener “Get It Garden” Challenge today and help make a difference for yourself and your community.
