Japanese Windflower
It’s fall . In most places across the country gardens are drying up and losing bloom; preparing slowly for the deep winter sleep.
Not at my garden. Japanese Windflower, specifically Anemone Robustissima (tomentosa), has been blooming since mid-August and is an absolute explosion of flowers right now in mid-September.
Covered with industrious bees, the flowers are a smile every time I walk out my front door. Pink fairies gently drift in the breeze; dancing above deep green foliage. Beautiful!
You know what they say – it’s not over ‘til it’s over!

Love the close up of the flower! We saw some pretty flowers blooming yesterday up in Virginia. A good showing of life renewing on a day of reflection!
Thanks Gene! The bees are swarming these flowers – their little legs are so filled with pollen they look like giant yellow pants on every little bee. If you sit quietly on the front porch you can hear all their loud buzzing. Wonderful stuff.

Love it… I just shared some up close shots of these awesome bloomers a few days ago.
