How to make an herb infused Basil Cooler Martini Cocktail

Want a delicious cocktail treat for summer? I discovered this yummy cocktail recipe for an Herb Infused Basil Cooler Martini in Akumal, Mexico with my delightful and good looking friend Sam Jiminez.  Below is the recipe and video on how we made this great drink right at the beach. Listen for Sam’s amazing translation of the word “vodka” – HA! Who knew that muddled basil and grapefruit juice make such a perfect refreshing and not-too-sweet summer POW!

Right now my garden fresh basil is in full insanely-powerful-smell mode. Total garden heaven herb smellaliciousness mixed with juice coming right up!

Basil from Shawna Coronado's garden for the Herb Infused Basil Cooler Martini

Ingredients:

  • Large handful of Bonnie Sweet Basil
  • Ice
  • 2 oz of Vodka
  • 1 oz of Triple Sec
  • 2 to 3 oz Pink grapefruit juice
  • Garnish – sliced lime and sprig of basil

Directions:

Muddle basil in a shaker.
Add ice to shaker to chill shaker.
Place liquids in shaker.
Shake like it’s your job. Then shake it some more.
Strain into a martini glass and top with a sliced lime and sprig of basil

Love that cocktail filled with summer love and herbal aroma. And remember – how do you say vodka in Spanish? VODKAAAAA!

*Note – Because the FTC requires it, I am noting that the Mayan Riviera Tourism, Hotel Akumal Caribe, Villa Akumal, and Akumal Guide Mexicarte  sponsored this cocktail making experience. I was not told what to document or how to document the experience, we were simply asked to attend and film. Bonnie Plants sponsored the Sweet Basil plants growing in my garden that I used for this cocktail recipe.
