Without a doubt, one of the most fantastic adventures I have ever had was the making of this video while snorkeling with Paul Sanchez Navarro from Centro Ecologico Akumal and the sea turtles in Akumal, Mexico. Paul is interested in building water safety awareness in the Riviera Maya region of the Yucatan Peninsula and taught us how to approach and view sea turtles in a way that did not harm these wild creatures.

First we spent a night on the beach, tracking, then watching sea turtles lay their eggs. It was tremendously beautiful – there was a full moon and we sat together in a group on the sand listening to the waves in the night and awaiting our turn to visit turtles as they laid their eggs. The wildlife biologists were cautious; only allowing a couple visitors at a time and we were not allowed to use lights in the filming process because it would disturb them, therefore we filmed with infrared light settings.

This trip and video series is all about empowerment and exploring our environment and this time we got an amazing up close view of loggerhead turtles. Both laying eggs and swimming with them. Watch the video to see what an incredible adventure we had!
