Garden Design Inspiration: Short, Medium, Tall!

I took this photo several years when touring the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Using grass like edging with the tall tropical plants in the middle has truly inspired me.
I feel a tropical plant addiction coming on!
In this design they have simply planted three rows of plants. First row is short, second row is medium, and the third row is tall.
You can do this too using any variety of plants. Get out there and garden!
Was just told that the grass is actually Liriope. You could also mix in daylily around the edge if you wanted to change the consistency of the edge.

Thanks for these valuable tips! More power!
Nice one.. Really look cool and beautiful..
This is an amazing idea!!! Really, I've never seen anything like it and it just looks fantastic. Must be kinda easy to do too I guess, if you know which plants to pick
What is that taller green plant in the back in your picture?
Hi Dillon – sorry for the delay, I just now found your message. The taller plant is Colocasia.
Thanks,
Shawna
You could reproduce by division. Meaning you can divide it with a shovel in the fall. I do that, then split the plants again and again.
