How to Hard Boil Eggs in Water Recipe

Basic breakfast - hardboiled eggs and blackberries. Perfect for the heat of summer. Learn how to do a basic hard boil with this recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 to 12 eggs
  • Salted water in a saucepan

Instructions
 

  • Place a dozen eggs (or less) in a saucepan, covering with cold salted water
  • Bring to a rolling boil over high heat
  • When it begins to boil, turn off heat and cover for ten minutes (if you like a drier/harder cooked egg, leave simmering on low uncovered for the ten minutes)
  • Pour eggs into a colander and run cold water over them or sit in a cold water bath for 10-15 minutes (this helps the eggs peel easier)
  • Eat immediately or refrigerate up to 5 days
