On Day 2 of our awesome Garden2Blog Event at P. Allen Smith’s beautiful Moss Mountain Home Garden Retreat, we were shown how Laguna Ponds built a new pond on Allen’s property. Above you see tv crew, P. Allen Smith, and the Laguna staff discussing the benefits of ponds and pond less waterfalls. Allen’s garden P. Allen Smith and the Laguna team talking about their installed the planting design around the pond to make it look more natural.

More importantly, the Laguna team showed us how easy it is to build a pondless water feature by having a water feature building contest with their pondless waterfall kits.

In less than a half hour each garden writer team was able to assemble one of Laguna’s portable pondless water features. Essentially, it involves placing water in a base, plugging the pump in, then placing the fountain itself on top of the base. That’s it – super easy! The winning team won a Laguna pondless water feature of their choice to install on their property at home. Wow!!

Pond kit from Laguna's websiteWhile my team did not win the prize for best designed pondless waterfall, I did learn that assembling a pond or pondless waterfall system yourself is pretty darned easy by participating – it took us less than 15 minutes to put the kits together.

What type of water feature do you have in your garden? Was it easy for you to assemble? Did you use a system? Leave me a comment and let me know the details – I want to see if it was as easy for you to install your water feature as it was for our teams to quickly build them.

*Note – Because the FTC requires it, I am noting that P. Allen Smith and his amazing team paid for this trip and Garden2Blog experience for all attendees – he flew 20 of the best garden bloggers in the nation in to have the experience. We were not told what to document or how to document the experience, we were simply asked to attend – anything expressed in posts related to the Garden2Blog event is my own opinion expressed from my own personal experience.
