Extraordinary garden displays as well as sustainable ideas

Garden inspiration abounds at the Philadelphia International Flower Show 2011. It begins with a celebration of dramatic displays featuring flowers, gardens, and topiary.

I was able to experience the show in a unique way. Searching for both extraordinary garden displays as well as sustainable ideas, I soon fell in love with Philadelphia and its remarkable flower experience.

Here are some photos of the astounding floral displays —

Above you see a wall of insanely huge and beautiful window planters. Designs featured unique plantings which cascaded over the sides of the window container gardens.

Drama filled and colorful, above you get a glimpse of roses through plastic rose-colored looking glasses.

Powerful and colorful, the below floral display is a representation of one of the sets from the movie “An American In Paris.”

Every where attendees turned there were amazing flower displays. Above you see a lovely representation of a French street flower vendor.

One of my favorite floral displays is represented in water, light, and flowers – a view of night time in Paris above.

Below you see a very unusual display which centers on flowers hanging in hoops from the ceiling – it was a part of a larger boudoir display featuring a romantic bedroom setting smothered in roses.

Above is a gorgeous table display dripping with flowers and dramatic lighting – the flowers smelled even better then they looked and the background lighting featured the two story lighted blue columns you see in the background of the picture.

Center stage featured an astounding “merry-go-round” that acted as a central stage where musicians and performers performed. There were bands, individual singers, dancers, and even mimes.

There is so much to look at, I wish I could show you hundreds of floral displays that were all astounding and gorgeous. Day 1 was truly a wonderful experience. Tomorrow I will show you Day 2 – plants and gardens.
