Dolce Blackcurrant Heuchera, Coral Bell

Coral Bell

One of my favorite plants in the fall garden is the Coral Bell. Long past its spring flowering, the color comes from it’s magnificent leaf. Any variety keeps until the coldest weather and then pops back up in the spring in perfect form.

This is Proven Winners’ Dolce Blackcurrant Heuchera. Better Homes and Gardens listed this as one of the hottest new perennials of 2009 – and indeed it has been fabulous in my garden all season. Love it!

  1. It's beautiful Shawna.

I've become such a heuchera nut in the last three years. Nearly all of the varieties I have keep their foliage all winter, and look great until it's time to cut them back in the spring. Favorites of mine include Guardian Angel, Mocha, Caramel, Plum Pudding, Frosted Violet, Hollywood, Autumn Bride, Obsidian, and Lime Rickey.

I just love them, and love that they add color to the garden in every season, especially all winter when nearly every other perennial except hellebores defoliate.

  2. I love heuchera's too – they are so easy to take care of. I don't have as many as you, but enjoy Caramal, Plum Pudding, and a whole section of Dolce Lime – they sound delicious enough to eat, right?
