Every year I go to the Chicago Flower and Garden Show and I love how the approach at the show has become greener and focused on educating the thousands of visitors that attend the show annually. Walking into the show after a cold, hard winter is like walking into sunshine; the smell of the flowers and trees overwhelms the senses.

There is a lot to do – participate in potting classes, walk the gardens, shop in the shopping area, listen to educational speakers on gardening and cooking, and of course simply SMELLLLL. Then smell some more. Building the gardens is an act that takes enormous work. To give you an idea of the amount of earth that’s moved, approximately 2,200 tons of sand and soil are used in the show.

This year’s gardens were truly gorgeous and ranged from water gardens to traditional rose-beds to fairy gardens to very contemporary children’s garden designs. I loved every minute and highly recommend you attend this weekend. March 22nd is the last show day, so get your tickets to the show online or in-person (HERE) and get yourself out to Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois to enjoy this huge indoor celebration of Spring.
