Fairy Home alternative for garden mulch

As you can see in the above photo of one of my little fairy gardens, there are lots of amazing things you can use for mulch besides chipped wood. I have used seashells, glass, rocks, pebbles, cocoa husks, recycled rubber, crushed bricks, and many other substitutes in garden beds. What do you use as an alternative for traditional chipped wood mulch?

  2. Shawna, I like the idea of using organic mulches so they can break down and add organic matter to the soil. I think polished river rocks make a beautiful statement in Asian-type gardens.
