Green Ideas — By Shawna Coronado on December 30, 2008 6:30 am
It is that time again: the time for New Years Resolutions. Here are my top five easiest green and healthy tips which will really help you and your family “get your green on” in 2009.
Make a GREEN New Years Resolution to follow these simple tips –
#1 – Recycle all soda cans and plastic bottles instead of throwing them away. Landfills are rapidly overfilling – this saves considerable landfill space.
#2 – Convert all light bulbs in your home to Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs. Changing the light bulbs will also save you money.
#3 – Turn off the lights when you leave a room. This alone will save a significant amount of energy.
#4 – Give away your old clothes, appliances, and toys to a community assistance organization. It saves landfill space and promotes giving to the community.
#5 – Turn off the water when you are brushing your teeth. Saving gallons of wasted fresh water every year can make a real difference for your community.
There you have it – five of the easiest-to-do and inexpensive greening ideas ever. These new year resolutions are easy to stick to as well – so do it – get your green on in 2009.
Happy New Year!
